Data Engineer

What We Are Looking For

Reverse Resources is looking for an experienced Data Engineer to turn our unique database into a valuable tool to help shift the fashion industry to circular.

Who We Are

Reverse Resources is a Software as a Service platform for global fashion brands and textile recyclers for steering and tracing textile waste from source to recycling. While collaborating with 12 of the largest global fashion brands (incl. H&M Group, C&A, PVH and many others), we are fundamentally disrupting the value chain of how waste from garment mass-production is handled and turned into a new resource by recyclers.

Our platform connects 4 different types of users (brands, factories, waste handlers, recyclers) into a central digital platform and allows daily data sharing for matchmaking and tracing waste to recycling. Step by step, we are moving into building a first-of-its-kind commodity market for the global fashion industry to exchange textile fibre as the key resource for the industry. We maintain mass-balance oversight and build statistics of the movement of the materials (by fibre composition and waste type) beyond the supply chains, regardless of the legal ownership and organisational boundaries. While the volume of data is currently still low, it carries a lot of complexities from multiple ways of talking about the same topic among the different user groups.

We’ve figured out the business case and built part of the core functionality. Our client base and operations are growing in South-East Asia (operations in Bangladesh, India, etc), North Africa and Europe. We now need to strengthen our SaaS product to scale properly and reach the impact the world needs.

How You’ll Spend Your Time

  • Help us select the good next tool (Panel or Dash?) to move our data management system forward from Google Looker Studio and make it part of our own software platform.

  • Improve (simplify while expanding) the data model and start taking steps from descriptive model to rule-based suggestions for our clients (and later to machine learning)

  • Help us significantly increase data quality and stability and establish methods to alert and react to data quality issues

  • Write code close to programming

  • Work with a balanced team to identify value drivers, support company OKRs and codevelop a great product offering

  • Develop and manage an actionable backlog of data-related developments.

What You’ll Bring

  • Passion for our mission for turning fashion industry circular.

  • 3+ years of experience, notably on SaaS platforms applying a version of agile/lean startup/user-centred design. Preferably also some experience with commodity markets, trading systems or marketplaces.

  • Proficiency in SQL, Python and either Panel or Dash

  • Structured thinking and being at ease with coding

  • Experience with different data visualisation techniques

  • Your bias for action, collaboration, lightweight processes, and tight feedback loops.

  • Your availability within +/- 2 hour timezone to our HQ in Estonia.

Why We Love Working Here

  • RR is an impact-first and mission-driven company, driving the shift to a circular economy

  • We have an amazing team culture with high diversity across many locations

  • We prioritise work-life balance while considering different common practices in different regions where we have a presence
